Armed Security Officer – Office Assignment

Responsibilities & Core Duties

• • Greet employees and visitors professionally and provide clear directions.
• • Verify identification, confirm authorized entry, and maintain visitor logs.
• • Screen visitors and belongings using provided screening equipment and established procedures.
• • Identify prohibited items, deny entry when required, and promptly notify designated personnel.
• • Use sound judgment and verbal de-escalation to address disruptive behavior.
• • Monitor assigned areas and available surveillance systems for suspicious activity or safety concerns.
• • Conduct interior and exterior patrols as directed and check doors, windows, and access points.
• • Respond appropriately to emergencies, contact emergency services when necessary, and assist responding personnel.
• • Prepare accurate electronic incident reports and promptly report urgent issues.
• • Follow post orders, emergency procedures, and supervisory instructions.
• • Maintain accurate electronic timekeeping and remain at the assigned post until properly relieved or the post closes.
• • Arrive on time, in the required uniform, with all required credentials and authorized duty equipment.
• • Protect confidential information and maintain professional boundaries with employees and visitors.

Licensing & Certification Requirements

• • Current Maryland Security Guard Certification
• • Current Maryland Handgun Permit
• • Current CPR certification
• • Current Standard First Aid certification
• • Current OC Spray certification
• • Current MEB Baton certification

Minimum Qualifications

• • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
• • Ability to prepare clear, factual incident reports and use basic electronic reporting and timekeeping tools.
• • Professional appearance, dependable attendance, and strong communication skills.
• • Ability to remain calm, follow procedures, and exercise sound judgment during stressful situations.
• • Residence within a one-hour commute of the Hagerstown, MD worksite.
• • Availability for Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., or clearly identified availability for backup and relief work.
• • Employment and assignment are contingent upon successful completion of the required State and FBI background screening, a pre-placement physical during conditional onboarding, credential verification, and assignment approval.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• • This is an in-person, office-based assignment.
• • Interior and exterior patrols as directed, including checks of doors, windows, and access points.
• • Remain at the assigned post until properly relieved or the post closes.

Available Shifts

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with a scheduled 30-minute lunch break. Immediate openings; backup and relief coverage also considered.

• Day: 0800–1700
