2. Information we collect

We only collect information necessary to provide our services and process job applications. We do not buy personal information from data brokers.

When you request a quote or contact us

• Name, email address, and inquiry type.
• Optional phone number and company name.
• Any messages or details you provide in the contact form.

When you apply for a career (short application)

• First and last name, email address, and phone number.
• Self-reported details such as preferred roles (armed, unarmed, executive protection) and states.
• Optional application source tracking (such as featured job slugs or UTM tags).

When you submit a full application (via emailed link)

• Work history, references, and physical street address.
• Resumes and credential photos (front and back).
• Veteran or military service fields.
• Highly sensitive fields required for hiring, such as date of birth, criminal/driving history, and visa type. These fields are strictly restricted to authorized hiring reviewers.

From authorized staff (admin and guard portal)

• Google account information via Google OAuth for secure staff and guard sign-in.

Automatically collected information

• Taps on the “Call” button from our website.
• Basic, privacy-safe analytics (detailed in Section 4).

3. How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your security service inquiries and provide quotes.
• Evaluate candidates for employment, conduct background checks, and manage our recruiting process.
• Provide secure access to our admin and guard portal for authorized personnel.
• Maintain the security and performance of our website.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use third-party advertising networks, ad pixels, or cross-site tracking.
• We do not use automated artificial intelligence (AI) to process applicant data, make hiring decisions, or rank candidates.
• We do not operate SMS marketing lists or automated newsletters.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use privacy-safe cookies for security and site analytics. No ads, no third-party tracking, no data selling. You can update your privacy preferences at any time using the link in our website footer.

Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for session security, form protection, and admin sign-in, and cannot be turned off.

• aps_consent and aps.consent.preferences: Saves your analytics consent preferences for about one year so the banner does not reappear.
• aps_apply_draft: Remembers your unfinished careers application draft for approximately 7 days.
• aps_internal: Allows authorized staff to hide their own visits from website analytics.
• __Secure-authjs.session-token: Secure authentication cookie used exclusively for staff and guards logging into the admin or guard portal.

We no longer set an anonymous aps_session cookie. If your browser still has one from an earlier visit, it is cleared on the next page load.

Analytics (optional)

If you opt in, we use basic analytics to understand which pages you view, the referring site, approximate country/region, and device category. We never collect your name, email, or precise IP address for analytics.

• We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights.
• We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics.
• We may retain historical first-party visit logs from a retired tracking system.

5. How we share information

We only share your data with trusted service providers who operate our infrastructure. These vendors are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.

• Hosting and storage: We use Vercel for website hosting and secure, private object storage (Vercel Blob) for applicant file uploads.
• Database operations: We use PostgreSQL for secure data storage.
• Email delivery: We use Resend for transactional email on contact forms and recruiting notices.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal processes.

6. How long we keep it

We only keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law. You may ask America Protective Security to delete a contact inquiry or applicant profile by using the contact details in Section 10.

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Highly sensitive applicant data (such as date of birth, criminal history, and visa type) is strictly restricted within our administrative dashboard and is excluded from routine CSV data exports. File uploads (such as credential photos) are stored in private cloud storage, not accessible to the public. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (such as Maryland, Washington, D.C., or Virginia), you may have specific rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we have collected about you.

America Protective Security will process access and deletion requests upon request. To exercise your privacy rights or request deletion of your applicant profile, please contact us using the details in Section 10.

9. Children’s privacy

Our website and services are not directed at or intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
